Aha moments

February 18th, 2009

Hey mom, I have an idea to make money.

What’s that?

Let’s invent medicine that really works.

Why hasn’t anybody thought of that?

And that tastes good!

***

Mom, you know what worries me every time I fly?

What’s that?

You know when they say in the event of an emergency landing do not take your personal belongings?

I’ve heard that.

What if I’m carrying my American Girl doll?

We’d get you another one.

Just checking. That’s what Dad said too.

***

Mom, I’m worried about some of the kids in my class.

Why’s that?

Well, they are in third grade already.

Yes they are.

And if they don’t know anything by now how will they ever graduate from high school?

***

Mom, I feel sorry for God, you know why?

Why?

Because he has to create like a billion, million jillion fingerprints.

  5. When I was little, I had a great idea to fix the national debt – just raise the price of stamps a little and use that money to pay the debt. My dad laughed at my brilliance. I sure wish more people had tried harder to take care of debt back when I was little …

  6. Such a seeker of knowledge, your kiddo…

I am so lucky to live with a child just like that. Keeps me on my toes, and it reminds me to never stop asking questions of my own.

  7. What’s the answer to the last question? It worries me too . . .

We are back visiting our old home and my 4 yo said, “Dad, in Maryland, everywhere is home.” Too true.

  9. Wow – she is just full of gems. It is going to be very interesting to hear my son’s philosophical musings one day. Right now, I’m savoring the “temper tantrums on the floor as expression of existential angst” phase.
