  1. Karen, I desperately need a vacation. So I have decided I will vacation at your home, in your backyard, where I will simply sit and breathe for seven full days. OK, and maybe read your new book. I’ll be very quiet. You won’t know I’m there.

  12. I fell into your wisdom quite by accident, and it has been life-changing serendipity. I have a small collection of signed books and would be honored to have one of yours to add to it. Regardless, I will at some point own and savor this new book.

  16. By the way, I would love to share this on Facebook or Twitter, but alas, I do not use either of these outlets. I am, unfortunately, one of those who survive with email only.

Despite that, I would love to win a signed copy of your book.

  24. Shared on FB and twitter. Love this line: “Colors with no names because I wasn’t naming them; beauty beyond measure because I wasn’t measuring it.” We often don’t see or experience a lot of life because we are to busy photographing it or thinking about it.

  27. Ever since I came back to gardening, a part of me has known that there is nothing more important than tending to the task at hand. I had forgotten completely, I had gotten lost.

Thank you for reminding me of this, and thank you for another book full of wisdom and guidance.

    Comment by Christiane — April 24, 2014 @ 4:55 am

  28. Have loved your last 2 books and bought a few to pass to friends. Love following your messages all the time. Can’t wait to read this book and maybe see you again. You came to DC years ago and the meditation you taught was wonderful. Helped me teach but more importantly helped me when I was in the hospital. Thank you so much.

  29. My personal copy is on order at a local bookstore. I really would like this copy for my local library. OK, I admit I’ll keep the autographed copy for me. I’ll give the one I ordered to the library.

  30. Just got the book yesterday but a signed copy would be a treat…and then I would gift this to someone else. Lovely to spend some time in your garden. Hope to visit some day. Thank you for everything.

  31. I have a signed copy of Hand Wash Cold, from your retreat in Seattle. I would love to add a signed copy of your latest book! Just in case, I have ordered, but have to wait a while here in Canada, so I am using the time to think of who I could donate the extra copy to. During an extended time of trauma and upheaval, and existential angst, your calm, encouraging words and wisdom have helped me slowly move forward towards a greater happiness and ease in life. And I often imagine walking in your beautiful garden, absorbing the sounds and smells and sights! Thank you for sharing.

  34. I think your book Momma Zen is invaluable, because it gives you the perspective to stop reading parenting books. It’s the best baby shower gift! I’m delighted to learn that there are more of your books to enjoy.

  35. I just moved to a house and inherited a backyard garden. I’m watching it come to life this spring with excitement and awe, wondering what new shape the space out my window will take from day to day. I love the discoveries of new trees budding and scraggly vines that are suddenly showing tiny purple flowers. I have no idea what any of it is or even how to care for it yet. But I am savoring this awakening. My ability to approach this beautiful mess is influenced by how you have written about your own garden on this blog. And now this video. Thank you for your perspective; it is keeping me present. Excited to read this book!

  39. I can only get it from mid-June over here.
Momma Zen is the only book on parenting I recommend to new mothers (and often my gift when I hear that one of my friends is pregnant). I read it when I was pregnant with my second child and so wish I did with my first. Hand Wash Cold has helped me love all of my life a little bit more, even the parts I struggle with. I can’t wait to read what this one brings.

  40. Since I’ve watched the video the first time, I play it on a daily base. It brings me to ease, to listen to your voice, to watch your garden. Next step will be reading the words.
I’ve discovered your blog via Roos. I’m thankful for that.

    Have a nice day,

  41. Somehow I missed this before now. I love it. The thing you said about how when you are working, all you want to do is finish, and when you are finished, all you want to do is keep going? It made me smile with recognition. As did seeing and hearing you talk. Now that I have this image of you, I really must read Paradise again. Thank you…

  42. Watched the video twice already.Got my book and read in one day. Will be back many times and will buy more for gifts,(what a precious gift!)This book is a meditation and I think that’s mostly how I will use it. Any chapter will be the one I need in the moment then I’ll close my eyes and sit in your garden a while. Thank you for continuing to enrich the garden of my soul. Blessings……
