Once you realize how much of our conversation — whether the topic is work, sports, health, happiness or love — is really about money, then you know how broken we are.
Oh yes, definitely. It bogs down one’s life and soul to think that everything can be measured and defined in a financial dimension. Things that come from care, beauty, love and patience, you know there is no definition in that dimension.
I just copied down a quote from the “Dead Poets Society”:
“We don’t read and write poetry because it’s cute. We read and write poetry because we are members of the human race. And the human race is full of passion. And medicine, law, business, engineering, these are noble pursuits and necessary to sustain life. But poetry, beauty, romance, love, these are what we stay alive for.”
